Why Us?

The training philosophy at NYAC Fitness is rooted in the belief that personal growth occurs when individuals step beyond their comfort zones. Each coach embraces this principle, crafting tailored training sessions designed to challenge clients while providing the necessary support to ensure they progress at their own pace. By fostering a positive and encouraging atmosphere, coaches aim to empower members of all fitness levels to confront their limitations and discover their true potential.

At the core of our coaches’ methodologies is the understanding that achieving fitness goals requires more than mere physical exertion; it necessitates mental resilience and emotional support. Techniques such as goal setting, self-assessment, and personalized feedback play a pivotal role in the training process. For instance, coaches facilitate regular check-ins to assess progress, allowing clients to reflect on their journeys and make necessary adjustments. This iterative approach not only helps in fine-tuning workout regimens but also solidifies the coach-client relationship, fostering trust and motivation.

Moreover, our coaches incorporate a variety of strategies to ensure that every individual remains engaged and inspired. This includes diverse training modalities—such as strength conditioning, functional training, and cardiovascular exercises—all carefully designed to stimulate different muscle groups and prevent workout monotony. By catering to different preferences and fitness levels, they create an inclusive environment where every member feels comfortable participating fully. Through this comprehensive training philosophy, NYAC Fitness stands committed to facilitating not only physical transformations but also building a community that encourages holistic growth.

At NYAC (Not Your Average Crew) Fitness, we are dedicated to fostering an environment where fitness enthusiasts of all levels can thrive. Meet Coach: Sydney

Coach Sydney after a group fitness class

Sydney has over 20 years of experience with health and fitness, starting as a competitive runner in both cross country and track & field, then transitioning into a variety of other team sports. After graduating from college with an engineering degree and a few extra pounds, she went in search of finding a sustainable, long-term health and fitness plan. Several years and programs later, she found a community through group fitness that fostered connection and accountability. Since then, she continued to grow her abilities by entering into new training areas such as weightlifting, hybrid training, obstacle course racing, and eventually instructing. To date she has completed 4 half marathons, more than 50 5k’s, over 15 hybrid races, and 20 obstacle course races.

Sydney’s passion is helping everyone understand that we are each unique individuals with different goals and how to leverage that to build internal confidence. There is no “one size fits all” in the fitness industry, which is why she is able to provide personalization in workouts through connection to help achieve goals, regardless of whether it is to race competitively or maintain the health needed to be an active grandparent. Heath and fitness are for everyone, and she can’t wait for you to join the team!.

Meet Coach: Frank

Coach Frank at the Poconos Spartan race at Blue Mountain in Palmerton, PA

Frank has been active his entire life—playing sports, moving with purpose, and always pushing himself to do more. He brings over three decades of athletic experience into every session he coaches. But it wasn’t until adulthood, during one of life’s more personal challenges, that fitness took on a whole new meaning.

In the midst of a difficult journey trying to conceive with his wife, Frank (and his wife) turned to exercise not just as an outlet, but as a lifeline. It was through that process that he discovered the power of structured training, the motivation of group fitness, and the unshakable resilience found on a Spartan race course. What started as a way to heal and grow quickly evolved into a full-blown mission: help others find strength—both physical and mental—through movement and community.

Frank’s coaching style blends real-world grit with smart, scalable training. He believes that everyone, regardless of where they’re starting, has the ability to train like an athlete and feel like a champion. That belief led him to earn a wide range of certifications, specializing in functional training, hybrid race prep (DEKA, HYROX, Spartan), and group dynamics that challenge the body and build confidence.

As a coach at NYAC Fitness, Frank has created a space where people train with intention, race with purpose, and rise together. Whether he’s coaching a high-intensity bootcamp, leading trail prep for the Spartan Death March, or helping a first-time racer through their first DEKA workout, Frank brings energy, strategy, and community to every rep.

Favorite motto? “Show up. Do the work. Bring the chaos.”
Because transformation doesn’t happen by accident—it happens on purpose, with the right people by your side.
